Аннотация:The paper analyzes Konstantin Paustovsky’s play “Our Contemporary” in the context of the anniversary discourse of the Pushkin celebrations in 1949. It shows how the choice of iconic loci (Odessa, Mikhailovskoye) as a scene forms the meaning of the play. The author considers the motif of Pushkin’s word as a weapon and discusses the idea of creating a “folk biography of the poet” due to the testimonies of the characters.
