Аннотация:The paper analyses Konstantin Paustovsky’s autograph, found in responses to the death of Maxim Gorky and received by the A.M. Gorky’s Archive from the editorial offices of the newspapers Pravda, Izvestia, and Literaturnaya Gazeta. Paustovsky’s contribution “A Life to Envy” was first published under this title in Literaturnaya Gazeta on June 27, 1936. Later, the text was published in Paustovsky’s collected works under the title “Gorky’s Death Day.” Its original version is slightly different from the last edition. The article attempts to clarify the facts of cooperation between the two writers and determine Gorky’s attitude towards Paustovsky according to the surviving archival documents.
