Аннотация: Heart Association Annual Conference on Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention is a scientific program that will provide physicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, dietitians, nutritional scientists, exercise physiologists, psychologists, nurses, school health professionals, and other health scientists with the opportunity to learn current information about (1) population trends in cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors; (2) causes and mechanisms of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases; (3) results of cardiovascular disease treatment and prevention trials; (4) methods of population surveillance for cardiovascular disease and risk factors; (5) techniques in preventive cardiology; (6) nutrition and cardiovascular disease; and (7) outcomes research in cardiovascular disease. At the conclusion of this program participants should:• be able to recognize population trends in cardiovascular disease and associated factors, such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.• be familiar with methods of population surveillance, data sources, and techniques for understanding the current state of management of cardiovascular disease and risk factors.• be able to understand the results of cardiovascular disease treatment and prevention trials and appropriate interpretation of subgroup analyses. Filer Symposium on Prevention of Overweight and Its Consequences Beginning in Youth is a scientific symposium designed to provide dietitians, nutritional scientists, exercise physiologists, psychologists, nurses, school health professionals, and other health scientists with the opportunity to learn about the importance of the childhood obesity epidemic and to review current knowledge regarding the development, prevention, and treatment of childhood obesity.At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• identify factors that predispose an individual to childhood and adolescent obesity, including genetic, physiologic, and environmental factors.• evaluate critical periods for development of obesity.• recognize the major comorbidities of obesity in youth.• determine strategies for prevention of obesity and identify barriers to prevention efforts.• evaluate strategies to treat obesity, including behavioral, pharmacologic, and surgical approaches.
