Аннотация:Some preliminary conclusions of the media theory discussion started in 2016 and continued at the beginning of 2017 within the covers of the journal Theoretical and Practical Issues of Journalism are drawn.The ideas of systematization and structuring of knowledge on mass media stated by the authors are clarified and developed, i. e. alongside mass media theory and journalism theory, it is proposed to single out a theory of media system management.The necessity of theoretical reflection of the modern media system as a high-speed dynamic system is emphasized, which, in turn, is impossible without applying mathematical methods.It is pointed out that the potential of national mass media science ensures its international priority in media research.The authors consider that the media science, which they call mediology, is becoming one of the most prospective and important sciences of the future.
