Аннотация: organizations participated, submitting 124 student posters, 73 professional papers, and over 220 student papers with 147 accepted and invited to the conference.Overall, 500 students, faculty, and community members attended the three days filled with workshops, presentations, and of course networking.This conference was a pivotal accomplishment for UB as a leader in the ASEE Zone 1, exhibiting the academic excellence and research innovation by our young professionals and experienced faculty.Zone conferences only take place every 5-6 years, and the decision for UB to host this conference was made in 2012.The ASEE is composed of four zones, the Zone 1 Conference represented members from the Northeast, St. Lawrence, and Mid-Atlantic sections.In support of the ASEE's mission to further education in Engineering and Technology, the conference welcomed four speakers with years of expertise in their respective fields of industry.All four speakers, as well as the tutorials, workshops, and panels emphasized the importance of increasing education enrollment in STEM fields to insure that the need for engineers in the coming years will be adequately met by young professionals.The designated theme for the conference, "Engineering Education: Industry Involvement and Interdisciplinary Trends" was readily apparent across all components of the three day event.The American Society for Engineering Education was founded in 1893 as a nonprofit organization committed to furthering education in engineering and engineering technology.In pursuit of academic excellence, ASEE develops policies and programs that enhance professional opportunities for engineering faculty members, and promotes activities that support increased student enrollments in engineering and engineering technology colleges and universities.Strong communication and collaboration with national and international organizations, as well as providing valuable connections among government agencies, corporations, and educational institutions further advances ASEE's mission 1 .In the 2013 Annual Report, ASEE reported 12,689 individual members and 611 institutional members, with increases in both the K-12 enrollment and enrollment of women.Nearly 1/3 of the new members in the past two years have been women. 2The increase of involvement with professional organizations, such as the ASEE, is an integral component to the promotion of STEM education and engineering related careers.The following report is a summary of all events from the three day conference.It aims to recapture the spirit of academia and to promote the fellowship between students and professionals, alike.
