Monasterios familiares y espacios agrarios en la Galicia del año mil. Un estudio comparativo de los dominios de San Salvador de Bande y Santiago de Barbadelo
Аннотация:This paper will explore the topic of the early medieval agrarian spaces by means of the analysis of the domains of two family monasteries in the province of Lugo, San Salvador de Bande (Láncara) and Santiago de Barbadelo (Sarria), which were direct contemporaries, located in close proximity to each other. Around the year 1000 AD both monasteries were integrated into the properties of the monastery of Samos. The valuable information about its properties that was preserved in the Tumbo de Samos allows us not only to reconstruct with great precision both domains, but also to carry out a comparative study of its composition and economic orientation. In this way, by means of quantitative and qualitative analysis, we can observe two very different economic strategies for each one of the monasteries, as well as clear indications of productive specialization and investment in infrastructures that reveal an increasing pressure and interference of the aristocratic powers in the agrarian organization of the late 10th century in this area of inland Galicia.
