Аннотация:This chapter provides a brief overview of the history of restorative justice. First, it explores how the term restorative justice came to be used. Next, it presents some of the early attempts to articulate the vision and theory of restorative justice. Then it explains the development of three prototypical restorative processes: victim-offender mediation, conferencing, and circles. This is followed by a review of the steady incorporation of restorative principles and practices into criminal justice systems, with examples from various areas of the world. The chapter ends with a time line of key events in the development and expansion of restorative justice worldwide.
