Many studies evaluating gender pay disparities from different perspectives have contributed additional evidence that the gender pay gap in medicine continues and is real (1–3).Dr. Ertle highlights that "pay-for-productivity" systems predominate and, where applied fairly, have helped level the playing field for compensation across genders. However, RVU-based systems do not eliminate gender pay disparities. Linzer and Harwood (4) emphasize that patients' expectations of female and male physicians differ.
