Аннотация:IntroductionNo comparison of global KD patterns has been previously reported.Understanding seasonal patterns may provide insight into the etiology of KD.Methods Data from 16 countries (11 in Northern Hemisphere and 5 in Southern Hemisphere; 251,660 cases from Japan, 15,704 cases from other countries) were analyzed for seasonality. The number of KD cases from each location was normalized to minimize the infl uence of greater numbers from certain locations. Results A defi ned seasonal structure emerged demonstrating global coherence in fl uctuations in KD cases. In the Northern Hemisphere, KD occurrence was highest in January through March and approximately 40% higher than in the months of lowest occurrence from August through October.Datasets were much sparser in the Southern Hemisphere, but suggested a maximum in May through June, with an occurrence approximately 30% higher than in the months of lowest occurrence in February, March and October.Although there was some variation within datasets, a general consensus emerged to support the overall Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere trends. Conclusions When aggregated over hemispheric domains, KD cases occur with greater frequency in certain seasons with a suggestive pattern of peak winter occurrence in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
