Аннотация: The new International Conference on User-Centric Media, UCMedia is dedicated to addressing emerging topics and challenges in various user-centric media-related areas.The scope of the conference is to improve our understanding of the changing landscape of media.It has a particular focus on forms of media that are user-centered and on the way they will be delivered over a Future Media Internet.It aims to provide a high-profile, leading-edge forum for researchers, engineers, and standards developers to present their latest research, techniques, and experiences in the field of user-centric media.The First UCMedia conference was held during December 9-11, 2009 at Hotel Novotel Venezia Mestre Castellana in Venice, Italy.The conference`s focus was on forms and production, delivery, access, discovery, and consumption of user-centric media.Delegates from industry and academia joined the conference for three exciting days of new idea dissemination and technical discussions.After a thorough review process of the papers received, 23 were accepted from an open call for the main conference and 24 papers for the workshops.The technical program of UCMedia 2009 reflected well the current priorities in overwhelming volumes of content, user-generated content, changing distribution mechanisms, and changing representations of media, and was organized in seven sessions.In addition, a considerable part of the technical program was devoted to consolidated and emerging application areas for mobile services, multimedia and user experiences, multimedia search, and retrieval and interactive TV.Lower-layer issues such as identity management in peer-to-peer networks and legal issues in virtual worlds also attracted the attention of conference authors.Keynote speeches were given by three very prominent members of the user-centric community: The keynote speech titled "Towards Truly User-Centric Convergence of Multimedia" was delivered by
