Аннотация:On May 11 of this year Li Lanqing, vice premier of the State Council, who came to Hunan on a work-inspection tour, took a special trip from Changsha to Miluo municipality, which is more than a hundred li away from Changsha, to inspect personally the work of promoting quality education over a broad area, a project that has already been carried out for twelve years in this locality. Vice premier Li went to one of the rural primary schools and the No. 1 Middle School, entered these schools' classrooms himself, audited classes, witnessed how ordinary upper middle school students learned hands-on bicycle repairing, and gained a personal understanding of how the teachers here have, through their teaching, succeeded in cultivating students' abilities and skills. After he listened to the schools' overall reports, Comrade Li Lanqing said elatedly: "What is particularly commendable about what has been going on here in Miluo is that, even before the greater environment for the implementation of quality education has been created in society at large, the folks here have already created their own conditions to promote quality education over such a broad area, and, in doing so, have produced valuable experience."
