Аннотация:In this essay, we argue that ethnic Americans and new immigrants are both influenced by and affect urban development differently in a new era of globalization. Varied spatial practices take place among the mosaic of races, ethnicities, classes, and genders. Alliances and struggles shape conflicting communal perceptions of identity within those spaces. Equally important is the notion that many Korean Americans use the inner city Koreatown and their respective suburban residential communities as an interconnected site, blurring the urban/suburban distinction. The classic mosaic of central city neighborhoods has been blurred as segregation along class and ethnic lines has become modified by new lifestyle groupings as well as new cultural sensibilities.
