In the first chapter of nine, he outlines the basic modes of correlative thought in early China. These include man/ cosmos and state/ cosmos congruence; the numerology based upon Five Phases; the YIJING as simulacrum of cosmic pattern; and the Yueling (Monthly Ordinances) from the LIJI.
