Focus and Effectiveness of Environmental Activism in Eastern Europe: A Comparative Study of Environmental Movements in Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania
Аннотация:The collapse of communist governments ensured free political space and greater organizational opportunities for environmental movements in Eastern European countries. The prominence of eco-groups has declined since 1989, how ever, and only a few pressing environmental problems have attracted vocal and effective action. Green groups are most successful in rallying public opinion around ecological crises that can be linked strategically to issues of greater political resonance, such as anticommunism before 1989 and nationalism now.
