Аннотация:The study analysed the associations of three sex life issues (importance of and satisfaction with sex life, and ease in talking about sex life) in adulthood and childhood variables (relationship with mother/father, parents' divorce, economic difficulties, conflicts, being afraid of a family member, family member's illness or alcoholism) in a population-based random sample of 21,101 Finnish respondents stratified according to four age groups (20-24, 30-34, 40-44, and 50-54 years). A questionnaire was mailed in 1998 with a second mailing 10 weeks later. Relationships with parents and selected events in childhood predicted importance of and satisfaction with sex life as well as ease in talking about sex life. Close and warm relationships with parents are important to both genders in relation to their adult sex lives. The value of this could be usefully taken into account during educational sessions for teachers, nurses, physicians, well-baby clinic staff, and other professionals.
