Аннотация:Among103 dogs examined for demodex infection, in a 3-year-old Yorkshire terrier, we detected dual infection with a short-bodied demodex mite andDemodex canis. The unidentified short-bodied demodex mites were 97.5-167.5 (139)μm in body length. The podosoma was 55-100 (mean=82.88)μm, and the blunt-ended opisthosoma was 40-67.5 (mean=56.38)μm. Skin lesions took the form of scaly dermatitis with patches of pustules around the ears, eyes, lips, chin and legs. The dog was treated with ivermectin and bathed in Benzol peroxide, micronized sulfur solution, and Amitraz biweekly. But, since after 3 months, tests for demodex mites remained positive and skin conditions had not improved, all the dog's hair was cut off. Milbemycin was administered, and the dog was bathed once weekly in the medicines mentioned above. As a result of this treatment, after 2 months, tests for demodex mites became negative; and clinical symptoms disappeared.
