Аннотация:Commencing with Marie Curie's early life in Poland and the discovery of radium in the rue l'Homond “shed” in Paris in 1898, this paper includes some little known facts. It ends with some unusual uses of and claims for radium, and finally, because Medical Physics is an American journal, details are included of Marie Curie's two visits to the USA.
