Аннотация:In his sound poem Ursonate Kurt Schwitters (1887–1948), visual artist, architect, typographer and stage designer, writer, poet, thinker and reciter experimented in multimedial art. Being aware of John Neubauer's interest in this very subject, I want to discuss why I do not consider his experiment to achieve a literary sonata a success. In order to understand Schwitters' motivation, the discussion first requires a look at his ideas of art in general.
