Any controlled clinical trial or cohort study that compared alternative interventions for pressure ulcer prevention—including bundled protocols—was included. In fact, studies of pressure ulcer interventions did not evaluate single-component therapies in isolation but as part of multicomponent prevention strategies. However, details about these strategies were often limited, representing a shortcoming of the available literature.
