Аннотация:The U.S. Geological Survey's •Toxic Substances Hydrology Program provides earth-science information needed to understand the movement and fate of toxic substances in the Nation's ground and surface water.Research activities conducted under the auspices of the program include: ( 1) the investigation of the physical, chemical, and biological processes that control contaminant transport and fate in ground and surface water at field sites and in the laboratory; (2) the development of new analytical methods and sampling techniques; and (3) the investigation of the relations among various human activities, environmental characteristics, and regional patterns of water quality.
