Аннотация:This chapter first discusses the fluid processes and water transport in subduction zones, especially water flux to the mantle transition zone. Water transport into the lower mantle is then then considered, followed by a discussion of the spatial extent and nature of global geochemical domains in the mantle, which could represent regions contaminated by anciently subducted components. The chapter also examines water subduction to the deep mantle through subduction zones, associated with both slab stagnation and penetration at 660 km phase transition.
