Аннотация: Vortex jet grippers are a promising form of holding devices due to their design simplicity, low cost and reliability. However, their designs, mathematical models and calculation methods have not been sufficiently studied, which significantly limit their performance and scope. This hinders, for example, solving the urgent problem of designing a vortex jet gripper with maximum load capacity and minimum mass and dimensional parameters. In this paper, we consider possible design schemes of vortex jet grippers and their effect on the device load capacity. The design of the vortex jet grippers without a cylindrical insert and the version with a cylindrical insert are considered, as well as peculiarities of their operation. It is proposed to supplement the vortex jet grippers structure with ribs on the working surface in order to achieve the greatest vacuum on the surface of the blank. Also, ribs prevent rotation, lateral shift of blank and direct outlet jets from cylindrical chamber. In addition, nozzles with slots are considered, which contribute to increase of radial speed and load capacity of vortex jet grippers. Various versions of grooves design are proposed and their effect on operation of vortex jet grippers is indicated. Due to the complex mathematical dependencies describing the operation of the vortex jet grippers, effect on the proposed variation of their geometry is evaluated in a general way, without indicating any specific numerical values.
